AFTERMATH

Leadership thru Loss at Scale

Loss is always personal. Forced to give up our former goals and routines can be disheartening and disorienting. Losing a loved one, friend, close coworker, and neighbor can be devastating. When loss affects many all at once, be it a team, department, division, function, organization, community, or even an entire region, leaders at all levels must rise to meet the collective and individual need. AFTERMATH takes leaders and would-be leaders from all levels through the group-stages of individual loss—be that loss undesirable or altogether tragic. Contingency plans usually exist for handling external communication needs (legal, stockholders, and public relations), while internal communications are left to the formal hierarchies and informal networks that routinely disseminate daily information. These internal systems can be overwhelmed, even crippled, by the very loss to which they must respond. We can and will do better. Join us for a program that helps any leader face a current loss or prepare for impending ones. We will explore much needed mental models, communication strategies, and social tools, implementing careful interventions in real-time between sessions or practicing possible interventions for the near future.
