Remember when The Help’s Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) says to two-year-old Mae Mobley, “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”? The Peanut Butter Falcon is that line incarnate, plus a little Twain and 2012’s Mud (Matthew McConaughey) tossed in .

In short, it’s beautiful.

Shia LaBeouf has some really fantastic lines, Dakota Johnson beams and warms the heart, and newcomer Zack Gottsagen is delightful and true.

”Friends are the family you choose.”

”You can’t change the world, but you can change someone’s world.”

”You’re the hero. You’re the good guy. What’s brains got to do with heart?”

Take some tissues; you’re gonna need ‘em.

p.s. The soundtrack by Jonathan Sadoff, Gabe Witcher, Noam Pikelny, and Zachary Dawes is equal parts soaring, haunting, and anthemic. Too bad the songs are so short.
