Ouch, this one's gonna leave a mark. Very uncomfortable, like some out of control high school play.
Tiffany Haddish is a genuinely funny person, and I know she can grow into becoming a serious actor through more opportunity and practice and coaching, but this first big swing is a swing and a miss. It just feels awkward. Stilted.
McCarthy and Moss fare a smidge better, but this clunky vehicle they're in does them no favors (the writing, directing, staging).
For reasons not of their own making, it feels like everyone is having to fight above her weight just to carry water in something that aimed to be The Departed but clearly isn't.
