I first heard of Gallaudet in grad school, as we had a colleague in class who'd graduated from there. He was bright as a spotlight, so imagine my joy some 30 years later when I heard Davis Guggenheim (Elisabeth Shue's husband) describing the project to John Heilemann on Impolitic.
Deaf President Now! is, as Davis put it, "about the most fascinating civil rights movement you've never heard of," and oh, what a tale.
Do check it out.
The scene with Ted Koppel will bring you outta your seat and onto your feet. GUARANTEED.
